At the age of 5, while attending the Holy Childhood Convent Preschool, her teacher commented on her artistic talent. During her Junior School years she won ‘Best on Show’ at a local art exhibition which was judged by Brendan Bell of Tatham Art Gallery, Pietermaritzburg.
Shelley qualified as a Graphic Designer from The Durban Technikon in 1993. While completing her 3 year diploma at the Durban Technikon she won the “Art of Drawing” award twice and completed her course with a distinction in ‘Design’ and in ‘Art of Drawing’. She took time out from the hectic design industry in Cape Town and taught Art and Technical Design at St Catherines in Empangeni, KZN. Her art work was in the top 200 works out of over 1700 entries in the Sanlam portrait competition in 2013. Her passion is Zululand & Africa which she hopes to use her graphic design knowledge to bring elements from this area and continent into her paintings with various mediums.
She joined the Watercolour Society KZNSA in August 2016 and won an award for ‘Best on Show’ at their annual exhibition.
